Grasslands in Africa are called savannahs.
Savannahs are covered with tall grass.
There are not many trees.
Some of the grass grows as tall as a grown-up man!

Grass is an important food for animals.
Zebras and elephants eat grass.

Savannahs are hot and dry most of the time.
They are home to the world’s fastest animal – the cheetah;
the world’s largest animal – the African elephant; and
the world’s tallest animal – the giraffe!
